I could not find a way to select the compression method used by the StuffIt engine when it’s used as a helper for other applications such as e-mail clients or Greg’s Browser. Instead, each StuffIt component lets you choose the compression method in its preferences dialog it is no longer possible to globally change the compression method across all components.
